MatterWave is set up to commercialize R&D at IIT Bombay that is led by the team comprising its co-founders and senior scientific advisor.
This includes semiconductor products for communication, sensing and power management applications that are differentiated by design and process innovation; and spans novel materials to heterogeneous integration.
The target domains include RF communication and radar – both terrestrial and space-based – using GaN based devices; as well as underwater sensing and communication – using acousto-optical and GaN based optical devices.
The initial technology thrust here has been on nitride semiconductor based RF devices and systems – looking not only at the traditional power amplifier application, but also low-noise amplifiers, and the integration of rugged computing.
A major milestone for the founding team was the co-development with ISRO Space Applications Centre (SAC) of process technology for their upcoming GaN foundry. Here is the joint statement from the two teams on this:
